Highlights
- 南京城墙，现指南京明城墙，位于中国江苏省南京市，是明朝初年在都城南京修筑的城墙，当时有宫城、皇城、内城和外郭四重，现在通称的“南京城墙”一般特指其中的内城城墙。内城城墙东傍钟山，西据石头，南凭秦淮，北控后湖，周长35.267公里，现存基本完好的明城墙25公里，是世界上现存最长的古代城墙，是中国少有的保存良好的古代城墙，是南京现存最大的古代建筑。 现存长度仅为原来的三分之二。内城原有的13座城门，历经战火、破坏以及改建之后，现存的明代城门还有聚宝门（中华门）、石城门（汉西门）、神策门（和平门）和清凉门，其中除神策门还保留有清朝时修建的城楼之外，其他城门的城楼都已无存。1970年代末，南京开始对南京城墙进行系列性管理保护。目前，由南京市城墙管理中心负责全部四重城墙遗迹、遗址的管理保护工作。

Getting there
Reach Nanjing by high-speed rail or flight, then take a local bus, taxi or Didi to the site (most are 30–90 min from the city centre). Day tours from Nanjing are widely available and include transfers.
