What to know

Getting there

Ancient towns around Dali are 30–60 min by bus/taxi from the station; many are walkable on foot once inside.

Insider tips

  • Stay one night if you can — the old town is empty and lantern-lit after the day-trippers leave.
  • Boat rides and hall tickets are usually separate; buy the town pass only if you'll enter most halls.
Where to stay

Stay in Dali (mid-range ¥300–600; luxury from ¥800) — see the hotel map layer.
